Wayne’s World Hots Up

Central Queensland is poised for an era of dynamic economic growth, with latest research by KPMG singling out the Capricorn Coast as one of the top three property hot spots in Australia.

Rockhampton (pop. 120, 000) is located astride the Tropic of Capricorn and along side Queensland’s largest, river, the Fitzroy.

1149209204.jpg Fuelling the growth is a combination of natural resources, tourism and infrastructure developments. At the forefront of development is the $1.2 billion golf and residential site east of Rockhampton and overlooking the Keppel group of islands. The Great Barrier Reef International Resort, set on a 447ha site at Zilzie on the Capricorn Coast, boasts almost seven kilometers of ocean frontage and will ultimately house up to 5000 people.

A total of 144 residential lots are selling off the plan in the third stage of land sales. Prices for 800sq m ‘dry’ blocks start at $118, 000, while premium lake front blocks are selling from $149, 000.

Larger blocks up to 2000sq m with direct beach access and fronted by 27 Great Barrier Reef islands have yet to be released to the market.

Wayne Grady Golf course architect Wayne Grady has designed Lakeside Links to complement the site’s tropical ecosystem.

Great Barrier Reef International Resort has approval to subdivide land into: 669 home sites with beach access; 224 residential allotments on the golf course perimeter; 220 retirement village dwellings and a 50-bed nursing home; 125 hillside condominiums with 360-degree views; 100 country club suites; 75 condominiums with fairway views and 40 corporate lodges three or four bedroom bungalow style set in a tropical beach environment and landscaped with native dune vegetation.
